What Light Covers Do
Light covers are one of the finishing touches that take a ute from stock-looking to properly styled. They sit over the existing headlight and taillight housings, replacing the factory clear or chrome-edged appearance with a tinted matte black finish that ties in with other exterior accessories.
On their own, the change is noticeable but subtle. Where light covers really make an impact is when they are part of a broader matte black build. If you have already fitted door handle covers, fender flares or body cladding, adding light covers brings the front and rear of the vehicle in line with the rest of the exterior. Without them, the headlights and taillights can look out of place against all the matte black trim, especially on vehicles with large chrome-surrounded light housings.
The covers themselves are made from tinted, semi-transparent material, so they do not block or reduce your headlight or taillight output. Light passes through normally, meaning your visibility and the visibility of your brake lights and indicators to other drivers in traffic are not affected. You get the blacked-out look without compromising on safety or function.
For tradies and 4×4 owners who take pride in how their vehicle looks on site or on the road, light covers are one of the lowest-cost exterior upgrades with one of the highest visual payoffs.
What Is Available
There are a few different ways to buy light covers depending on how much of the vehicle you want to cover and what you already have fitted.
Headlight covers on their own are the most basic option. These cover the front light housings and are a good starting point if you only want to change the front end or if you already have taillight covers fitted. We stock standalone headlight covers for most vehicles in the range.
Taillight covers do the same for the rear. These are a popular pick on their own for vehicles like the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-MAX where the factory taillights have a lot of chrome or bright red housing that stands out against matte black accessories.
Headlight and taillight sets bundle both front and rear covers together. If you know you want the full blacked-out treatment on the lights, buying the set is the most straightforward option and usually works out better value than purchasing each pair separately.
Combo sets with door handle covers are the most popular products in this category. These kits include headlight covers, taillight covers and door handle covers all in one package, giving you a complete exterior refresh in a single purchase. We carry these for the Holden Colorado RG, Nissan Navara NP300, Ford Ranger PX2, Mazda BT-50, LDV T60 and Volkswagen Amarok.
5-piece exterior cover sets take things further again with additional trim pieces included. These are available for the Holden Colorado RG (2012-2016) and Mitsubishi Triton MR (2019-2026), and they cover the most ground of any single kit in the range.
If you are building up a matte black exterior piece by piece, pairing light covers with body cladding and fender flares gives you coverage from the lights to the wheel arches to the doors, which is the most common combination we see customers go with.

Fitment and Ordering
Light covers are one of the simplest accessories to fit. Most attach using 3M automotive tape, which bonds directly to the existing light housing. There is no drilling, no wiring and no tools required in most cases. The process takes a few minutes per light, and once the covers are on they stay secure through all driving conditions.
Because the covers are semi-transparent, they do not interfere with your headlights, indicators, brake lights or reverse lights. Everything functions as normal behind the tinted surface.
All light covers and cover sets ship Australia-wide with free delivery to major metro postcodes. Orders placed before 12PM are dispatched same day. If you are not sure which covers fit your car or want to request confirmation on a specific product, get in touch with our team before ordering.
