Bonnet Scoops

Matte black bonnet scoops designed to give your ute a more aggressive, muscular look. Available in Raptor inspired and standard profiles for the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara and Holden Colorado.

What a Bonnet Scoop Adds to Your Ute

A bonnet scoop, sometimes called a hood scoop, is one of the quickest ways to change the look of a ute. It adds height and shape to what is otherwise a flat bonnet, creating a more aggressive, purposeful stance that makes the vehicle look like it was built for serious work or off road use.

The Raptor style scoop design has become one of the most popular exterior accessories in the Australian ute market over the past few years. The design takes its cues from the Ford Ranger Raptor’s factory bonnet, which features a raised centre section with sculpted lines running front to back. That look caught on quickly, and now Raptor inspired scoops are available for a wide range of utes beyond just the Ranger. It is the type of upgrade that gives a base model or mid-spec ute a much more premium appearance without needing to change the entire front end.

If you are already running fender flares or body cladding on your ute, a bonnet scoop ties the whole exterior together and completes the blacked-out, off road ready look that a lot of owners are going for.

Functional Scoops vs Styling Scoops

If you have spent any time looking at hood scoops online, you will have come across terms like ram air, NACA duct, and high pressure air intake. It is worth understanding what these mean and how they differ from what we sell.

Functional scoops have an opening in the bonnet that feeds cool air directly into the engine bay. The idea is that cooler, denser air improves combustion and can help optimise airflow to the engine, potentially reducing engine temperatures under heavy load. Ram air scoops work by capturing high pressure air at speed and directing it toward the intake, while NACA duct designs use a recessed shape to channel airflow with less drag. These types of functional scoops are typically found on performance vehicles and heavily modified builds where engine breathing and performance gains are the priority.

The bonnet scoops in our range are styling items rather than functional air intakes. They do not have an opening that feeds air into the engine bay, and they will not affect engine performance or temperatures. What they do is make a significant visual difference to the front end of your ute, and for most owners that is exactly what they are after. You get the aggressive scoop design and muscular bonnet profile without needing to modify the engine bay, deal with water ingress issues, or worry about debris getting through an open vent.

For the majority of ute owners who want their vehicle to look tougher without chasing performance modifications, a styling scoop is the practical and beneficial choice. It delivers the look without the complexity.

Styles and Vehicles in the Range

Our bonnet scoop range is split between two main styles, and every option comes in a matte black finish that works well across all car colours.

Raptor Style scoops are the most popular option and make up the majority of the range. These feature the raised, sculpted centre design and deliver the boldest visual change of any bonnet accessory. We stock Raptor Style scoops for the following vehicles:

The Ford Ranger is covered across the PX1 (2012-2015) and PX2/PX3 (2015-2020) generations. If your Ranger is not a factory Raptor but you want that look, this is the easiest way to get it. You can explore more upgrades on our Ford Ranger accessories page.

The Holden Colorado (2012-2020) has two options: a Raptor Style and a Jungle style scoop, both in matte black. The Jungle option has a slightly different profile with a more textured, utilitarian finish.

The Nissan Navara NP300 (2014-2020) and Mitsubishi Triton MR (2019-2022) each have a Raptor Style scoop available. Both are popular utes that benefit from the visual upgrade, especially when paired with other matte black accessories.

Standard matte black scoops are available for the Toyota Hilux (2015-2019) and the Mitsubishi Triton MQ (2015-2020), with the Triton MQ also having a variant that covers the MQ through to MR (2015-2020). These have a cleaner, simpler profile compared to the Raptor Style but still add a strong visual element to the bonnet. Check out our Mitsubishi Triton accessories page for other ways to upgrade your Triton.

All scoops in the range are manufactured from quality injection moulded plastic with a matte black finish. This material is lightweight, UV resistant and durable enough to handle Australian conditions without fading or cracking over time. Matte black is the most versatile option for a bonnet accessory as it does not compete with the vehicle’s paint colour and matches other popular matte black items like flares, cladding, mirror covers and grilles.

Fitment and Ordering

Every bonnet scoop is moulded for a specific vehicle, so the shape follows the contours of the bonnet it is designed for. This means clean edges, consistent gaps and a result that looks factory rather than aftermarket.

Installation is simple on most models. The majority of scoops attach using high-strength 3M automotive tape, which bonds securely to the bonnet surface without the need for drilling or permanent modifications. Once it is on, it stays put through highway speed driving, rough roads and car washes. If you ever want to remove it down the track, you can do so without leaving holes in the bonnet.

Before ordering, make sure you confirm your exact model and year range. Some vehicles like the Triton have overlapping year ranges between the MQ and MR, so double check which one matches your ute. If you are not sure, reach out to our team and we will help you find the right fit.

All bonnet scoops ship Australia-wide with free delivery to major metro postcodes. Orders placed before 12PM are dispatched same day.
